Health News

At Pain Management Center we know that a knowledgeable patient is a healthy patient.  Please enjoy some of recent “Health News” information.

Radio Frequency Lesioning

Radio Frequency Lesioning is a pain relief method that uses heat to interrupt nerve pathways conducting noxious stimuli and can be very effective to patients with certain types of low back or neck pain. In this photo Dr. Neil B. Kirschen, is performing this procedure. Dr. Kirschen is Chief of Pain Management, Department of Anesthesiology at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, New York. He is Board certified in Anesthesiology and  Pain Medicine.

Auriculotherapy, is a crucial part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and another pain management service that we offer at PMCLI.  Auriculotherapy works by stimulating the central nervous system through the external ear. Because the ear has a direct connection to the body’s central nervous system, this makes Auriculotherapy a very effective form of pain management treatment.

Acupuncture is a part of Chinese medicine that also includes the use of Chinese herbs, massage, dietary therapy and exercise. Medical acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into specific areas of the body and applying heat or electrical stimulation to those areas. This stimulates the nervous system to release natural chemicals in the body that promote relaxation and relief from pain.
